Final Report on Small Change, Big Difference

This my final update on the Small Change, Big Difference, so here it is. It's going alright, for the most part. Shortening shower times is going well, even though it's kind of difficult to tell when a shower is 20 minutes, instead of my usual 35 minutes. My family also barely watches TV when we can go outside, the only one whose having difficulty with this change is my sister and my dad. I get them to go outside though, so they can practice Samantha's pitching. Another difficulty, is the shopping tote-bag one. It's difficult to remember the tote bag all the time, so maybe I should just keep it in the car. Defrosting food in the fridge is going well as well. And finally, we've saving heat by first checking if we have everything we need to leave the house. We also open the doors and windows, when it's hot. Well, there you have it. Hope it was helpful!

Changes

I've been doing pretty well on the Small Change, Big Difference in my opinion. We've been doing better on shortening the shower times, opening the door only when we have everything we need to leave the house, and we've also turn off the TV quite a lot, because we've been going outside or out as a family. What we need to work on is the shopping tote-bags goal and the defrost frozen foods in the fridge to reduce energy.

I hope I can reach these goals by the end of this assignment and I keep this going after the assignment is done.

By a little change, we create a better difference

What are the things I/my family do to save energy at home? Well, my family and I compost our leftover foods to fertilize our gardens and we changed almost all of our light bulbs to CFL lights. Since our family is active and always having a busy schedule, we never really watch TV which is good for the environment and for us. In the summer, we hang out our clothes on a clothes line since it's so beautiful outside.

To start off this little change for a better difference, I think we could use changes like:
  1. Use shopping tote-bags at the grocery store
  2. Shorten shower times
  3. Defrost frozen foods in fridge to reduce energy
  4. Think of what we need before we open the door to prevent heat loss
  5. Turn TV off when it's not being watched. Limit the amount of TV you watch
Hopefully this will make my family more green than it already is. I'll let you know!
